About Lori

Lori Rivera is a voice actor, singer, songwriter, actor and teaching artist who has been performing in the Bay Area for over 30 years. She has toured with a cappella groups SoVoSo and The Bobs and with Cyprian Consiglio. Lori has performed with the Mount Madonna Choir (10 years as a featured soloist), Shakespeare Santa Cruz (the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella), Cabrillo Stage (Annie in Joe Ortiz's world premier of Escaping Queens), Cabrillo Music Festival (Leonard Bernstein's Mass and Aaron Copland's Tenderland) and several times with New Music Works. She reprised her solo role in Mass at The Vatican, Carnegie Hall and The Dallas Symphony Orchestra.

As a teaching artist, Lori was the Musical Director for Mount Madonna School for twelve years, teaching voice and theater and co-directing The Ramayana.  She also taught at West Performing Arts, bringing music and theater to hundreds of students throughout Santa Cruz County. Her One Woman show, Smoke has been performed throughout the Bay Area, including at the Shelton Theater in San Francisco. She is currently one of the Musical Directors at Peace United Church of Christ in Santa Cruz and teaches yoga in several studios. She is excited to begin this new phase of her career, focusing on voice acting, specifically audio books, online meditations, animation, educational narration, and commercials.

Symphony

SANTA CRUZ Symphony

Lori was recently chosen to be the voice of the Santa Cruz Symphony’s Education Project for 2023. Her Voice Over will be featured on their website and will be shared with hundreds of Santa Cruz County Elementary students as part of their “Link Up Music Education and Youth Concerts”. Lori’s love and knowledge of all styles will help to educate and inspire the next generation of concertgoer.

In addition to regularly performing at the renowned Kuumbwa Jazz Center, Lori has presented Master Classes in Vocal Improvisation, Working with Accompanists, and most recently (October 2022) “Every Song Tells a Story”; a workshop about interpretation and storytelling through song.

Pre-Pandemic, Lori was cast in Stephen Sondheim’s musical, COMPANY, playing the acerbic Joanne.  Whether onstage as a singer or an actor, or behind the mic in her booth, Lori brings her love of performing and educating to everything she does.
